Having intended to fly from Wellington to Nelson to reach South Island our flight was cancelled on a foggy day in Wellington so we managed to get tickets for the Interislander ferry and amend our car hire pick-up in South Island to the ferry terminal at Picton |

We popped sea-sickness pills in the taxi on the way from the airport to the ferry terminal but the Cook Straits were like a mill-pond... | |

... and we had some delightful views as we cruised down Marlborough sound. | |
|
Even the low cloud just added to the drama of the scenery. | |

Despite the smooth crossing we were both pleased as the town of Picton came into view. | |

A sister Interislander Ferry came out of Picton as we arrived. | |
