The Kauri tree is unique to New Zealand and is the second largest tree in the world. Wendy sitting inside a hollow Kauri tree at the Kauri museum

Jo and Te Matua Ngahere (The Father of the Forest). You do not really see the sheer size of this tree which has a girth of over 16 metres and is just huge. Jo is about twenty metres from the tree here - you cannot get any closer as they are protecting the fragile root system from being trampled. This is the oldest tree in the forest and is estimated to be 2,000 years old.
